Appointment of the District Commissioner - 13-02-2011

1st Snodland Scout Group is located within Malling District. Malling District has just had a new District Commissioner appointed, and as a Group we are fully committed to supporting them in their role. Below is the announcement from Kelvin Holford, County Commissioner.

I am pleased to announce that Elaine Greenwood has accepted the role of District Commissioner for Malling District effective from 1st March 2011.

I would like to thank Peter Nicholls for his many years of service as District Commissioner and for holding the fort past his term while I concluded the appointment of Elaine. Peter is already in discussion with Elaine regarding handovers and continuing support which again I would like to thank him for.

Elaine has already made her first appointment of Ken Sharp as Deputy District Commissioner and I think you would agree this is the foundation of a very strong District team.

Elaine and Ken will be spending the next few months meeting GSLs, ADCs and generally getting to know people.  Elaine is organising a phased handover at Blacklands as she is currently working on some major projects with the Group.

When initial visits are complete Elaine and Ken will confirm the District team, and the intention is to hold a District Development Day to consult as widely as possible and to take as many views and suggestions into account for the future of the District.

Elaine hopes the new team including herself will be fully in post in September.

I am sure we all wish them well in their new Scouting roles and will give them our support through this initial transition.
